Tourist Development Tax collection showed a 70.10% increase in South Walton for November 2025 compared with the previous year. Total collections for November in South Walton were $876,611.26. FY26 Year-to-date (October 2025 - November 2025) South Walton is up 24.75% in TDT collections.

Due to the conversion to a new tax portal in late November 2024 and unforeseen transition issues, several taxpayers did not remit TDT for the November 2024 period in December 2024 (the first collection month in the new tax portal) and did so in January 2025. Therefore, November 2024's collection total was considerably lower than normal.

The Tourist Development Tax, or bed tax, is a 5% tax collected on hotels, condos and other short-term rentals south of Choctawhatchee Bay. It is the best way to gauge visitation and demand trends in South Walton. The revenue supports tourism marketing and beach operations efforts, including cleaning and maintaining beaches, employing lifeguards, destination improvements and preservation initiatives.

Tourist Development Tax collection on short-term rental accommodations north of the Choctawhatchee Bay totaled $14,333.04 for November 2025. Collections for November in North Walton represent a 24.47% decrease, or $4,643.78, compared with the previous year. FY25 Year-to-date (October 2025 - November 2025) North Walton is down 15.70% in TDT collections.

As of Jan. 13, the number of active rental units in the South Walton taxing district was 20,393, and the North Walton taxing district was 892 for a total of 21,285.
