Travola's attorney, Michael McDermott, said that it was unclear if he was on meds. Other reports have said that he was not and that he had been treated using a "detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology..." (all on MSNBC.com)

I really hope they had him on meds. I'll never judge anybody for their religious beliefs, but after the whole Tom Cruise vs. Brooke Shields and Matt Lauer debacle, Scientology is going to take a huge PR beating if it was preventable using medication, and it turns out that he wasn't on anything. Keep your fingers crossed...

Every religion takes a beating one way or another from members of other religions.

I have epilepsy and take medication. I can tell you first hand it is not 100% effective.

I also heard on GMA this morning that they had 2 live-in nanny/caretakers on 24 hour watch just for Jett because of his seizures. But I THINK I also heard that he was found approx. 10 hours after he fell in the bathroom. There's discussion about how well the caretakers followed through on their jobs. But this could all be hearsay... It's all so unfortunate.

This is similar to Hunter Tylo's (sp?) son who drowned after falling into a pool while having a seizure.

Scientology isn't a religion, it's a fan club for a sci-fi author. I'm no fan of organized religion, but I would never insult any other religion by including scientology.

They seem to have been good parents and they just lost their child. Could we please extend them the courtesy of not publicly blaming them for their son's death until there is evidence they were actually at fault?

Dear God, SB44, thank you for taking the words out of my mouth..whew. Like any political thread it is always best if you have the facts--and sometimes those facts are not available immediately, whether you are a celebrity parent or just a regular parent!
