Great report, Skunky! Brings back so many memories of living there. Big D and his best friend (thanks to the generosity of a supporter of Tulane athletics who was a member) played golf at the Audubon Golf Club almost every day after class. I rode around in the golf cart and passed out the beer.
Big D was on the Tulane golf team and needed to practice ... and have his nutrition, a.k.a beer. The Tulane course was across the river at Lakewood -- too far to drive to.
We've stayed at the Royal Orleans, too, many times. Once we were there for a Sugar Bowl when the Gators played, they messed on our reservations, and ended giving us the suite on the seond floor corner on Royal for the same price. It has a huge bar, living area, gallery on two sides. It was awesome. We were throwing beads off the gallery, and people were throwing us Gator stuff. It was really funn.
Punzy knows her spas -- I love the spa at the Ritz there -- they do a great job.
And
The Rib Room was always one of our favorite places to go before fraternity formals and even after we graduated. Sometimes you just need some beef after all of the spicy NOLA food!
I'm with you -- why would anyone go to a chain restaurant in NOLA!
BTW did you ever feel uncomfortable there? Did Punzy walk or take a cab to the Ritz?
Big D and I really need to get back to NOLA. Thanks for a trip down Memory Lane. Glad y'all had funn.

I am reading Skunky's report and crying at the same time. I miss NOLA!
