Great report, Skunky! Brings back so many memories of living there. Big D and his best friend (thanks to the generosity of a supporter of Tulane athletics who was a member) played golf at the Audubon Golf Club almost every day after class. I rode around in the golf cart and passed out the beer. Big D was on the Tulane golf team and needed to practice ... and have his nutrition, a.k.a beer. The Tulane course was across the river at Lakewood -- too far to drive to.

We've stayed at the Royal Orleans, too, many times. Once we were there for a Sugar Bowl when the Gators played, they messed on our reservations, and ended giving us the suite on the seond floor corner on Royal for the same price. It has a huge bar, living area, gallery on two sides. It was awesome. We were throwing beads off the gallery, and people were throwing us Gator stuff. It was really funn.

Punzy knows her spas -- I love the spa at the Ritz there -- they do a great job.

And :clap:The Rib Room was always one of our favorite places to go before fraternity formals and even after we graduated. Sometimes you just need some beef after all of the spicy NOLA food!

I'm with you -- why would anyone go to a chain restaurant in NOLA!:bang:

BTW did you ever feel uncomfortable there? Did Punzy walk or take a cab to the Ritz?

Big D and I really need to get back to NOLA. Thanks for a trip down Memory Lane. Glad y'all had funn.

BR-We never felt uncomfortable. The area we were in is very well patrolled and safe, especially in the morning and afternoon. Punz walked to the Ritz by herself.

Skunky, wonderful trip report. I'm glad you and Punzy were able to get away and really enjoy NO.

You certainly have a talent for describing food. I'm sure everything you ate was delicious, but I'm not so sure you couldn't make a hot dog with sauerkraut sound good. :D

Party time, LSU #2, so we went to The Old Absinthe House for a bit. I watched in fascination as the bartender (who looked like one of the Clockwork Orange guys) prepared an Absinthe for somebody. I didn't think this was the best nightcap, so stuck with beer. Then it was back to the hotel amid LSU cheers, pleadings for nudity, beggars, bar barkers, etc. Just a typical French Quarter night.

OKAY...that's it! I can't stand it any more....I've got to get back to the Quarter. I am reading Skunky's report and crying at the same time. I miss NOLA!

:drool::drool:Great report SKUNKAPE and great game LSU!!!!!! And what about Dem Saints!!!!:clap::clap:
