Or maybe this one:

Or just this one:
:pissed:

Went out to check on my beautiful mater garden this morning, and the previously beautiful tomatoes had (you guessed it) blossom end rot.

(My poor cat. He thought I was throwing rotten tomatoes at him...)

Sorry, Hop... 7-7-7 ain't turning out so great.:bang:

Okay, I don't have time to read 191 posts. Can anyone tell me where to buy good tomatoes in south Walton County? I would really appreciate it.

Also, some good peaches would be nice. I haven't made my husband's favorite peach pie yet, and it's a summer tradition.

Toni's at the west end of 30 A, or Cotton's on 331 , about 1 block south of the Highway 20 intersection. Y'all coming down?

Thanks! I'll stop at Cotton's. Pepper and I are coming down tomorrow afternoon; not 100% sure about D yet (important meetings were scheduled after we blocked out this week; might commuting back and forth to the small airport in Destin on the company plane).

BR - believe it or not, publix has had some very nice maters lately. I like the "ugly" ones best. BUT if I were driving down from ATL, I would try some roadside markets for maters and peaches. then stop at Cotton's too.

I've really lucked out with lots of big beautiful creole tomatoes from Louisiana - thanks to skunky and IBD!!! and chef abe brought a gorgeous box of maters from Atlanta. I've cooked lots of fresh tomato sauce and made tons of salsa. I'm down to about 5 tomatoes... oh no! oh well, I'll make a cotton's run this week. and the publix maters may work in a pinch.

maybe we need a tomato recipe thread???

The only problem with the "ugly" tomatoes at Publix is that they're $3.99 a pound!

I'm sure we could fill up a tomato recipe thread. I've probably posted at least half dozen in one thread or another. Tomato bruschetta, salsa, tomato/basil pasta sauce, tomato pie, Caprese, sugo finto, etc.

that time again!!!.....also....eat locally!! there has been a tomato bacteria outbreak in the US:

The U.S. food agency and the Center for Disease Control are undertaking a nationwide investigation to unveil what's causing an outbreak of Salmonella Saintpaul, an uncommon type of the bacteria.
Since mid-April there have been 145 reported cases of tomato-linked salmonellosis in the United States, including at least 23 hospitalizations. At least 15 states are reporting illnesses linked to the outbreak.

They also reported tonight that there have not been any problems here in Florida, and Florida grown tomatoes make up 33% of this countries Tomato sales. Eat Florida tomatoes, you'll be fine.

I however, have had some great tomatoes out of my own garden this year so far.

There's nothing like a fresh squeezed Bloody Mary!:D
