guess what? the forever stamp is not forever. they are producing only a limited number of them, so unless you buy and hold them until after the postage increases again, before using them, they won't save you any money, but they sure make people think they are getting one up on uncle sam. even thought the website states that it will ease the hassle of buying the two cent stamps increase (which really places a strain on the postal workers as the lines back up for a few weeks), the perception by the public is that they can pay more for a stamp now, buying them well in advance, and not have to worry about the prices going up again. why it took the usps this many years to come up with this simple idea is well beyond me, other than it is the feds being the feds.

As to announcing the increase... THIS is OLD news and it was announced on almost every news channel back in March because of the forever stamp.
