Hmm, I don't know about this. According to the ball field graph I'm at short stop.
As a fan of Cal Ripkin I should be honored, but as a registered Republican I'm worried about these labels and this test. My score was 80/40. Can I be a Liberal and a Republican?

I've always considered myself a Harry Truman democrat. He was my first President and I'm still wild about Harry, my hero. But todays dems don't even know who HST was or what he stood for.

First and foremost the President is Commander in Chief.
And you can't have a pacifist in that job.

rapunzel, Your quip " Commander And Chief " was very interesting and for me neatly illustrates a basic conflict between liberals and conservatives.
Inherent in your statement is a wistful hope for a stronger President. One who has more power to control Chief Executive affairs in the domestic sphere.

My conservatism is predicated in the belief that our President should be subordinate to our 50 Chief Executives and 535 members of Congress insofar as domestic policy is concerned.
As I think the Framers wisely intended.
Being the only nationally elected official the Presidents job as proscribed in our Constitution is to protect and defend. To me this means as Commander in Chief the Presidents power lies in directing foreign affairs.

Heaven knows this is job enough for any one person. Especially in todays world where America finds itself in the unique position of producing 40% of the worlds annual economic output. A position that demands that we accept a great deal of responsibility not only for ourselves but for the whole world.

For the democrats to offer up two Protectionist / Isolationist is really unbelievably preposterous to me.
