Walton Snowbirds

Our Snowbird Club boasts a membership of over 2000 and our activities are open to all winter visitors. The club is led by its members, financed by its members, and is for the recreational, social, fellowship, travel and enjoyment of all who participate. Use this site to view all of our activities, general meeting and registration information, photos and announcements.

If there is an activity that you would like to see us offer, and you are willing to be chairperson for that activity, we will do everything we can to accommodate you. We always have need for volunteers to help with meetings, registration and activities. So please consider doing your part to help our great organization continue to prosper, and have lots of fun while doing so.

Our first Meeting will be Dec. 15. at 10am - at United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Dr., Destin. Come early and see what special offers our vendors have for you.

?I joined this organization a couple of years after the flurry of retirement activities slowed down,? the Michigan resident said of the group, which he spends much of the winter working with.


Except for Dec. 20 and 27, registration for Walton County Snowbirds will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 every Monday at 306 South Geronimo St., Miramar, or at the monthly general meetings held in Destin United Methodist Church at 200 Beach Dr.
?Jan. 3 will be huge,? Mahar said of the 600 people expected then. ?We get more organized as we go along.?


Nancy Gehrke will lead this year?s board as presiding president, with Donna Bruder serving as secretary and BettyCardwell as Treasurer. Dave Peterson and Pat Hurley are the 1st and 2nd vice presidents respectively.

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Mym Wooler reports that the Walton County Snowbirds were founded in 1989 when founder Francis Althiemer ran a newspaper ad resulting in 90 charter members. Mym Wooler was the first secretary.[/FONT]
