I was watching Say Anything last night--remember when the kids were at their graduation party and everyone was drinking? Made me wonder when the drinking age was set at 21. Anyone know?

When I turned 19, I could drink beer. (1984) Before that you could buy 3.2, I remember I was under a grandfather clause. I think it was around that time it all started changing. I had to wait until I was 21 (1986) to have a real drink legally. This is Ohio of course..could have been different in another state. I won't even mention my trip to Daytona when I was 19. Let's just say my kids will never go if I have any say about it.

When the Fed Gov't decided to cut off funds to states with drinking age under 21. However, having the legal drinking age set at 21 simply means that the majority of kids between 16-21 are just breaking the law. Legal drinking age never stopped anyone I know from drinking when they turned 14 or 15 years old, and I even know a few who started when they were 13.

That would be my dd's age and jeesh, she is still so innocent. Although I am astounded at some of the bulletins and comments from some of the kids her age on myspace. She's already had to delete friends due to some really nasty bulletins. These are kids I've known since they were in kindergarten and it was shocking to me. Apparently their parents just let them do whatever they want and don't monitor their computer use. It was our aggreement that if Sam got a myspace that it would be private and I would check in at anytime. I won't read her messages but everything else is fair game.

And I was thinking that's the age of Pea's oldest!
