It's pretty diverse where Cil lives, and where most people live. SoWal and its visitors are very homogeneous and most cars have the W sticker. 5 years ago we were 99.999% white. Now I think we are about 20% hispanic and 2% central european (will not show up in the census).

In ten years we will be 40% Hispanic.

Well, yes, out where I am near (but no longer on) the Cape, it is diverse in attitude, if not color. There are a few gays, and bohemian (that word again! ;-)) artists etc who live out here so as to be able to do their thing un-harassed.
In town, the ethnicities are pretty neatly divided north and south by the railroad tracks. And I have seen plenty of Confederate license plates.
But yeah, everyone shops together at Piggly Wiggly.
