So, you don't think men have any control over themselves? That explains a lot!

Honestly, I don't think anybody has control of themselves whether his/her behavior is constructive/destructive acceptable/unnaceptable. This applies to all people of all genders every waking moment. You do what your mind/body tells you to do in response to environmental input and the the sense of free will is purely an illusion. It's all in the wiring. That being said, people still need to be held responsible for their actions, particularly if they do something really evil. So far I don't see that in the case of Weiner. I'm not going to spend a lot of time weeping and moaning over whether he hurt his wife. I'm more concerened about my own baser instincts running amuck, as every living being should be. I have plenty of friends who have cheated on their wives and sometimes ruined their marriages. I don't get involved in their problems because they're not mine.

No choice? Really? This position is beyond stupid. Please just drop it. Weiner should not be representing Americans.

More and more science is backing up the idea that free will is an illusion and that we never really make choices. On the contrary our choices make us.

Right here!
This all comes down to good judgment, the ability to control urges driven by emotion and lust, and an understanding of the importance of trust in a relationship. Weiner doesn't have any of these traits, which is why he has no business being in government representing the people. There are plenty of men out there who have self control and good judgment, these are the types we want in office. (Or we could just replace them all by electing women instead.)

You're right, but you got the order wrong...sex always comes first, food second, then sleep...and maybe some beer and TV.

I find it absurd that an uncontrollable sex drive is considered to be a character issue by some people. That being said, there are a lot of out-of-control people who need to be controlled for safety's sake. For me, Weiner doesn't fall into this category. I do not feel he has crossed that line (so far). I respect opposing viewpoints but I won't pretend to understand them.

You seem to have forgotten that he also lied to everyone about it for ten days and questioned the character of his accuser to cover his own rear end. I'd say that fits pretty well into "conduct unbecoming of a congressman".

But as I've stated before, I hope you all convince him to stay. :D This is a political gold mine for the other party.

The opinion of any SoWal poster as to whether Rep. Weiner should resign is impotent--unless the poster has a vote in Weiner's Congressional District.

Whether Weiner stays or resigns is his decision.
It's possible, but not probable, that the House will expel him.
There is no shortage of precedents for immoral folks staying in office.
If he stays, his constituents will decide whether to re-elect him.
It's called democracy.

Actually, you're both wrong. I believe his district is being eliminated in the redistricting process, so he will have no place to go but to CNN, if they will have him.
