If you want the definition of pork then look it up, if you want my short version opinion it is the extra considerations that politicians throw in bills to buy their vote.
I have not thought this through 100% but a flat tax would be a fair tax. The flat tax would strictly handle income, income on investments would only be taxed on the gains with some kind of consideration of the length of the holding. I have not thought it all the way through as pertains to moneys made overseas as that would be much more complicated.
Yes when I say flat tax there would be no deductions, there would have to be considerations for charitable contributions and the like.

The 10th amendment is quite clear on what gets handled at each level. Yes abortion is a state issue
If Regan was holding federal funds then it was a federal issue and he would have the right to do so, if someone were holding state funds it would be a state issue and should be handled at the state level.
To your last point, I agree some people thought slavery was a state issue. I believe this was the reason the south fought to secede from the Union. Personally I am glad that slavery ended. I'm not really sure what you are asking me here.

Feel free to set a trap for me if you wish. I think you can see that if I don't know something or if I don't have an opinion I will tell you. I can only give my opinion on items put in front of me. I am here to try to figure out what makes people on the left think the way they do, for this knowledge I will answer anything asked of me so that you guys can do the same. I have no hidden agenda and clearly I am not going to change anyones point of view. I do not like the personal attacks of which I have also taken part in. My main fear is 'what if I'm wrong' in how I look at things. If I am then I need to change how I view and process info.
