About signs... those big ugly blue signs (that I thought I had mentally erased ) are now creeping back into my consciousness, especially the one on 395 coming into Seagrove. I thought they were going to phase them out. They are starting to bug me again...

big blue signs...

I thought the same, they're just as ugly near Red Fish... I suppose it was too difficult to find another area in the country with the same community names, in the same relative direction from each other, so Walton County had to store them, then, someone noticed them in the corner of the shed--probably a new guy--and convinced the rest of the crew that the signs were really cool, and they should show some initiative and put them up! Of course, this is just a theory.

The Blue signs are being redone this was in the paper last month. They are possible going to replace the community signs on 98.

Also the ugly signs that need replaced are everywhere not just 30A but i would hope the county would not focus on making ugly signs look new in the buget crunch we are in at this time. I think i could find better jobs for the publix works crews.

Replace what community signs on 98? Welcome to Destin?

I suggested that all of those damn signs they will be erecting along the multi-use path be replaced with stenciled paint on the actual path, like you see in most places. Cheap, easy to maintain, don't create hazards for people having to weave around illegal golf carts, and don't block the scenery BUT no, they want to "brand" the Beaches of South Walton.

gayboi, don't think that just because the TDC is erecting the new signs, that they will maintain them. They stated that they blue sign posts were powder-coated rather than painted, so that they wouldn't have to maintain them.

On the new Scenic 283, when turning off of 98, heading south, there is a sign noting the fine for littering, followed by another no littering sign only a few yards away, and just beyond that is the new Scenic Hwy sign. Seems like we don't need the two littering signs since we have the new Scenic signs.

Yesterday morning, I noticed the prisoner crew erecting a new DOT sign for bikes, on the multi-use path on hwy 283, just north of 30A. I thought this was a low budget year. I think we could save everyone some money by not erecting so many signs. I see why we need some for safety, but damn. Next thing you know, we'll have signs posted telling us that it is illegal to do illegal things. Oh, wait, I've already seen those in the area. Do we really need to stretch it out and have a minimum of one sign per law on the books? I cannot wait to read about the percentage of buttocks which much be covered while in public.

You're a minimalist Joe.....there's an "ism" for all these aesthetic wonders.....isn't the booty template just another example of chumming up the water with minutia?
