Is Western Lake open to the ocean in Grayton Beach? Last year when I was there they were closing it off due to the oil spill...just wondering! The whole family is coming down next week to enjoy the beatiful beaches and great fishing.

The berms between the lakes and the gulf have been removed but the Western Lake outflow is not open to the gulf at the moment. Enjoy your trip!
thanks! I love to put the kayak in at the dock and paddle out to the ocean but I may have to drag it to the ocean this year.
Just be careful when you hit I-10.
If you mean the gulf, go ahead and paddle. The outlet will take you within 50 feet of the gulf.
