Anyone know any details about this item that is on the Board of County Commissioners' Agenda for Tuesday?

"Approve a grant application for Western Lake Pedestrian Bridge Improvements"

I'm wondering if this is enhancing or improving the existing pedestrian lane on the bridge or if it is a new structure like the one on Eastern Lake.

I heard, somewhere, that they were wanting to build two new pedestrian bridges (there are two vehicle bridges now). I'm not looking foward to another buttugly bridge in that location. It would seem simple enough just to move the roadway slightly more north on those bridges to give a little more clearance for pedestrians. But our road department moves in mysterious ways. Example: the cluster-f at the intersection of 30-A and Eastern lake Road. Does anyone here know how to de-cipher that?

Having a bad day?

I like our bridges. Although if new ones are going up on Western Lake I think it would be a great opportunity to do something really special. Maybe covered bridges of Walton County?

Moving roadways and rebuilding road bridges is not simple at all and very expensive.

What? It's a fork in the road. Having a bad day? Simma down now.

It's no longer a fork in the road. It's a fork in the road with two bike paths crossings, four road signs, two bumpers, and a stop sign for the intersection of a "driveway". Check it out. Simma down, my arse! (just kiddin')

IMHO, the pedestrian bridges over our great dune lakes could have been a great deal more esthetically pleasing. The beauty of that incredible view of Western Lake is in the hands of the Walton County Road Department...I'm worried.

I don't understand the need for either a pedestrian bridge or an upgrade to the "bike path" adjacent to the road over Western lake.

IMO there is no need for improvement there. Many other sections of the multi-use path - yes. There - no.

And yes, the intersection of 395/30A is now VERY confusing for tourists. But frankly I don't know what doesn't confuse most of them, so non-issue.
