Was anyone else at Crab Island yesterday? The ambulace/fire trucks came to the same area twice over about a 30 minute/1 hour time span. We didn't go over there because we didn't want to be lookie loo's and get in the way but we were wondering what happened and if the two incidents were related. Seems pretty coincidental that they'd be called out to the same area twice but I dunno. It was on the beach area at the base of the bridge. Don't know if it was traffic related or what.

I didn't see an image of a boat running over a smilie, or two boats colliding with smilie drivers.

We saw all the commotion too. It looked as if all the emergency vehicles went to the same location (the west end of the Destin Bridge). Several emergency vehicles and an ambulance later left with its sirens on.

Right around the same time the Marine Patrol came storming up on some guy who had been hanging around Crab Island on his waverunner. I had noticed him casually meandering in and out of all the boat traffic several times but didn't think much about it. When the MP sped up on him they grabbed him by the shirt and yanked him into their boat and then took him and his waverunner off. People around us were saying stuff about him selling drugs. It was probably just drunken gossip but it was quite an arrest nonetheless! A scene straight out of "COPS:Destin"!!

That would be a show worth watching...........Oh wait, too many of my friends would be featured, bad idea.

I was at Crab island around 11ish? All was per normal. What time did this incident occur?

Timmy, I'm not sure if it is still being aired, but a local tv channel out of PC or PCB, once had a show titled, "Busted in the Panhandle" and it was on once per week, and you can imagine that PCB was where most of the action took place. The show was based on "COPS" and that might be why I haven't seen it on the air for the last year or so. Instead of having a music theme song of "Bad Boys," they played "Shakedown," by Bob Seger et al., which was on the Beverly Hills Cop, II soundtrack.

Now I know why you are getting rid of your tv in June. :D

My guess based on what I saw was that a waverunner was operating too close to the beach and hit someone. We saw law enforcement questioning waverunners over there around 2pm, then saw 2 patrol boats take off at high speed w/ lights flashing when we were entering the harbor, and later saw they had a guy in handcuffs.
