Hey all. A few friends and I have been working on a list of things we learned in 2009. I thought it might be a fun thread to start here.

I took a few things from my list- as it is a long Arse list. The idea is that if we write down things we have learned- hopefully we will not have to relearn them, and perhaps from reading others- we will be that much wiser in 2010.

My happiness is up to me

That walking is a good work out too

That I have good friends

That I want/like to be a part of our community

That I do not have to be religious to believe in God

That we can make a difference by recycling

That being an American saved me/us

That I simply love hearing live music and music in general

Once again, that life is short

Being healthy is the best health insurance

That I like my 'natural' hair color

That there is a time for everything- good and bad

That migration is something to be noticed

I learned that Dorothy was right. There's no place like home.

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Europe in 2009 and though France makes me sigh with happiness and Italy makes me swoon, when I get back on American soil I know there is no better place to be! And I have two wonderful places: Indianapolis and Seagrove Beach. Life doesn't get much better.

Just traded notes with a friend who's having lunch at El Rodeo in Indy, if you know the place. I still miss them, wish they'd open one in Seagrove!

Oh wow Mermaid! How exciting that must have been! And you are right, there's no place like home! I am in an apt and left my home of 20 yrs. I SO hope I get that special feeling in my new little house when it is all done.

Happy New Year!

Great thread!

In 2009 I learned just how fragile life is -- how one visit to a dentist or a scratch while doing yard work could cause an insidious infection that could jeopardize one's life.

I have learned that every day should be celebrated because one never knows what the future holds.

When I get too Debbie Downer, please remind me of this.

Love y'all. I especially love my family.
