I was really loving the latest version of chrome and then it started doing odd things with the new website I'm working on so i went back to Firefox. Like a well-fitting glove.

Chrome was a tad faster maybe and a little sleeker but not quite there yet. Another version or two and Google will overtake.

I have used FF and IE and honestly can not see any great advantage to one over the other.

Firefox. It's faster and more secure than IE.

Something to consider with IE is the constant barrage of attacks on the program from hackers. Hackers despise Microsoft and they work feverishly at exposing any of it's software applications vulnerabilities.

IE is constantly needs updates to counter malicious .html codes and scripts that infect unsuspecting users without their knowledge until it's to late.

The hackers don't care about inconveniencing the individual they just want to "muddy" Microsoft's reputation for security.

I have personally used Firefox since it's inception and Mozilla Netscape prior to that. It's the first suggestion I provide to anyone asking for a safer operating system.

IMO any "Hackers" with skills to mess with MSIE are busy getting paid to hack it, not because of any hate for the corporation. "Hackers" are either spammers, criminals, or paid workers for the anti-virus industry.

............

I just started using Thunderbird - so far I like it and it has features I always wished Outlook Express had, as well as being a little cleaner and more logical interface.

I'm really surprised to see only one Mac user (Safari) in the poll. Any comments on how it works?

As a Mac user, I prefer FF to Safari. Can't really offer any techy descriptive as to why... FF just feels friendlier, faster and 'cleaner' to me. I retain Safari as backup even though over nearly 5 years of use, FF has only frozen up 3 or 4 times (and even then for just a matter of minutes).

I have various opinions on this. First I will say that I am a Microsoft Certifed Professional, however, I am also a ardent support of Apple. Now, having said that, lets get to the nitty gritty :)

I feel that the best browser right now that is Google Chrome. I am blown away at the size of the browser, the speed that is obtained, the structure of the browser and the design. It keeps a very small footprint on system resources and is very secure. Having said that if you need active-x support with a company web site, or other sites, then you are stuck with Internet Explorer. I use IE for accessing my customers Remote Web sites, and Chrome for all of my personal browsing.

As for my Mac's, I am torn. I want to use Safari. I really do. As a strong supporter of Apple, I love to use Apple's products, especially on a Mac. That being said, up until the most recent release of Safari, I found myself using Firefox on my Mac's. Like I said, till the most recent update of Safari :) Safari 4.0 offers some serious stability improvements as well as some very nifty new features. Check it out if you are a Mac user and have been using other browsers.

Firefox is my vote. If anyone needs help installing Firefox or Chorme let me know. I'll help for free. You won't believe how fast these two are compared to Explorer.

Right here!
FWIW, the upcoming releases of all three are about equal on performance.

ARE WE FAST YET?

Personally I'm a firefox user for the most part, although I do use IE for certain web sites. I'm running the latest Firefoc 4.0 beta right now because I really like what they've done on Windows with the interface. (They finally ditched the old application interface.)

I don't use Safari on Windows, from what I've read it installs all kinds of bloatware along with it.

Overall, all three of the latest beta versions (IE9, Chrome, and Firefox) are a huge improvement over the older releases. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Oh, and I love Firefox Personas!

Every browser out there has to be updated on a regular basis to deal with security flaws. It's more about which company is better about getting updates out to it's users in a timely fashion. I'd say Mozilla and Google do the best, Microsoft a close seconds, and Apple, which has been heavily criticized for their lazy security responses, is pretty much last.
