Twice a year Peacock Alley in Dallas (where my sister lives) has a sale on their high thread-count sheets. For the beach house my sister bought me (of course, I paid her for them) Peacock Alley sheets and duvet covers for the entire house. They were selling twin sheets for $10, and queen and king not much higher. Amazing.

My personal favorite sheets are the ones made out of T-shirt fabric that I bought at Rich's several years ago on sale for $40 for an entire king set. They are so cozy. We are sleeping on those now. The rental company had sheets on our bed so scratchy that it was like sleeping on sandpaper.

BTW just so someone doesn't slam me for not leaving them out for renters, the rental companies I've talked to require their own sheets - it's just too complicated for them to keep track of each owner's personal sheets, especially in the summer when they have so many check-ins to deal with on the weekends.

I like anything with 300TC or higher - and once you've slept on sheets of this quality you WILL notice the difference. I like to stay at hotels with luxury bedding as well - thank goodness I've gotten proficient at the Priceline/Hotwire thing so I don't have to pay through the nose to do so.
High thread count sheets don't have to be ultra-expensive - bought my last set of 400TC at Kohl's for about $60. And I've always been tempted to try out the ones they sell on Overstock.com or Smartbargains.com.

It's winter. We are on flannel for awhile !

Aren't they wonderful? With my husband traveling a lot, I stay much warmer. Nothing like falling into a good feeling bed at the end of a long day.

Please don't check out the sheets at the Pink house. Some of them are still from WWII. :rotfl: I guess they were the best because they are still around. 100% cotton, that is fo'sho.

Dabell, are you calling my sheets shiitty? Just because I don't want to fork out a few hundred hard-earned dollars on sets of sheets, does not mean that they are shiitty. I take your comments as an insult. Perhaps if you want to brag on the 500 cts, do so, but don't put down my sheets while doing so. There have been times in my life when I didn't have sheets at all, so I feel special just to have mattresses, not to mention sheets. ;-)

And those will be the softest always! I don't know what they do differently to sheets now, but my grandmother's old sheets were the best. I still have one big one- there is nothing softer. Plain ol' cotton, probably bought at Sears a million years ago.
