For those who remember me and my videos, Another Walk with Mike, you know I have a propensity to find snakes. I moved back just over a week ago and have seen a dozen or more already. And to those who don't know, I see snakes like that in every other state I travel to as well, so don't be afraid of Florida lol. Anyway, I just bought a place on 30a and have been 'cleaning' it up. I was out front and pulling weeds in the rock garden when I peered through the weeds at the root, wanting to get the green weed at its source. I was about an inch away from the root when I thought, darn, I don't have my glasses on, btw yes, I'm getting old, but thought the kinda resembled a Pygmy rattler. No, I thought, what are the chances. But, knowing what I know, I looked around the weeds to get a clear view and the cute little sucker became as clear as day. It was a Pygmy Rattler afterall. I wonder what he'd have done if I'd started twisting him and pulling him out of the ground. Anyway, I caught him and disposed of him, still alive, back in some woods. I always wonder what people would say if I ever get bitten. Thinking maybe I might have deserved it for being a naturalist and seeking and searching for snakes. But I am very safe and never play with them. In all the videos I've shot, I've used extreme caution. Just a note, so if I do ever get struck by a snake, you'll know
Happy gardening!
