Its not your dog's fault that the mailman is a slow learner!!!:funn::rotfl:
no kidding. (he's pretty weird too)

try some empty cans filled with peas or rocks and hopefully when they fall from him jumping at the window he will stop. Also try to give a sharp, No, when you see he is going to do it and take him back to another area and put him in a sit/stay till the mailman leaves.
He's so loud I doubt coins in a can would help (I've heard about this solution too). And he's WAAAAAY beyond a sharp no! He's in another world when the mail man walks by. The mailman does walk as close to the window as possible! Talk about taunting the dog!

My neighbor uses aluminum foil...
what am I supposed to do with foil?

Amen to that:clap: My two BC'S like to hide behind the tree and wait for the bicyclers to ride past before rushing the picket fence and scaring the bejebus out of everybody. Usually a sharp no does the trick but one of my cool new neighbors:wave:(Hi Guys) told me they almost lost it the first time. If it moves, they think it can be herded.

Mine would climb a tree for a squirrel if he could.....but, he wouldn't know what to do with it if he caught one.

Rudy did catch a cute little chipmunk last year. I'm sorry to say that he DID bite it and it screamed. Then I screamed. Rudy dropped it, totally scared and confused. He wasn't trying to kill it really, just sort of playing like he does with his furry toys.

Then a few years ago he caught a possum and it was hisssssssing at him. yucky. He dropped it and left.

Several years ago at a camp ground in central Fla, I was walking Trooper (without a leash)..he saw a skunk and thought is was a squirrel...close call. That would of been a mess, especially in a small camper.

There is a unit that looks like a birdhouse made by PetSafe. It emits ultrasonic noise when it detects a bark. It can be used in or out doors. It has different settings for distance as well. I had a problem with my dogs charging the fence when ever they saw or heard something they thought did not belong there. It took one day and that problem is solved. You can order it from www.jefferspet.com you will get it the next day ups. It is uses a 9 volt battery.

I've heard of the mouse trap thing.

I want to use them to keep Rudy from running up to the front window when the mail man walks by & scare the bejeebers out of him. Rudy goes absolutely insane & his claws destroyed the previous window sill. We just had new windows installed in the whole house last week & so far I've been able to divert his attention when the mail man approaches but I can't keep doing this.

Mr. JR says the mouse traps might hurt him badly. BUT he was infuriated with the window sill destruction from before that I'm willing to give it a try.

You'll only have to set them a few times. Generally it's just the noise that frightens them. McK never actually got hit by the mouse traps. Once she figured out that those mean loud obnoxious noises with a jump, she avoids them. We don't have to even set them anymore, just leave them on the furniture.

I have one of those lying around the office if anybody wants it. Let me just make sure someone else hasn't taken it.
