Staff's has a very casual atmosphere and is only open for dinner (I believe). If memoy serves, the soft shell crabs were in the $20.00 range. You (I) can't eat everything they bring. They serve more than basic seafood fare, in my opinion, but, to be honest, due to where we live, I'm not a seafood "guru"...I only know what I like ; ) Some people at our table chose steak. I do believe that Staff's is best known for its seafood though. I stand to be corrected.

Tootsie,

Try Boon Docks off Hwy. 79 for wonderful lightly battered fried shrimp, onion rings, and fried pickles. Yummy!

either go up 331, take a right on Hwy 20, turn right on Hwy 79 at Ebro, just after you cross the bridge with the gorgeous Bay views, turn left into the driveway of the Boon Docks.

... or 98 east to Hwy 79 in PCB, turn left on 79, go about 8 miles and the Boon Docks is on your right just before you cross the bridge.

I would opt to avoid any potential traffic and take the northern route on hwy 20. ;-)

Captain Anderson's - yes. Closed on Sunday.

Boondocks - I've heard, yes and considerably less expensive than Captain Anderson's.

There is a place on the west end of Destin on the Bay - I think I heard that Dewey Destin owns it - that I've heard great things about. It's not on 98 though, and I haven't been there.

If you happen to be in DeFuniak, or if the company uses Hwy 83 to come in and out, Fannin's has excellent fried shrimp and it's all you can eat on Friday nights. Note that this isn't Fannin's on 331 where Chapman's used to be; I am referring to Fannin's near Glendale. Atmosphere is typical (stereotypical) for the area, but food is great!

We love Dewey Destin's - on the bay off Callahan?? by MC Guire's - picnic tables set up on the docks - really good fish.

Better by boat. ;-)

We have never had a problem with traffic via 98 to 79, but then we have never driven it during spring break. Going by boat would be great fun as you can tie up at the restaurant. Just don't have a boat. Maybe you could give us a lift sometime? We always dine at Red Bar and Seagrove Market, and now have added Book Docks to our list of favorites. We were there twice last week, and believe the restaurant to be closed on Tuesdays. We have friends who have owned a place on Thomas Drive for many years and recommended Boon Docks to us. They are very familiar with Captain Anderson's, Angelo's Steak House, etc, but assured us that one cannot find better basic seafood than Boon Docks. Very casual and family friendly.

If so, take a left from your dock, then a right when you hit the deep water, then a quick right after you go under the bridge. ;-)

Remember to ask me about that boat I was telling you about.
