which areas don't have june grass?

Hi

Please forgive me for being a tourist. Arrived in Grayton today and while there is only a little june grass washing up, we're not loving the color it turns the water. I know it has a purpose and I'm glad it is doing its job... All that said would anyone mind sharing info about where the june grass isn't? Does it change from day to day? Once it appears does it sometimes disappear quickly or is it usually several days?
We plan to look for a less grassy beach tomorrow.
Last - my husband made me ask so flame him not me

If you want to drive for a couple hours, head out to Gulf County. The water here is *mostly* june grass-free, and the beaches certainly are.

the further east/south you go, the less grass you will find due to currents and flat muddy areas that trap it

long way to drive just to go to a less grassy beach

just walk from Grayton towards WaterColor and you will probably find spots free of June Grass. Not much wave action yesterday to move it around.

durn grass is everywhere, showing up spottily even offshore and in psj, sa and choc bay - just postponed the next fishing trip *again*

swimming's fine, but you just can't fish in it

I was down a couple of weeks ago and the june grass was heavy. We made a few trips to St. Andrews and fished off the jetties and the beach on the inside as well as the peir that is there.

The in laws also went out to shell island and said that beach was aboslutely beautiful..it was completely protected from the June grass.

6-6-6 - my spies tell me that the snotgrass is still everywhere (including shell island, sorry), but spottier and less than it was- need that good (small) storm from gulfwards to whip the waves up and blow it out, i thought the last front would do it but not quite, came in the wrong way and just pushed it around, perhaps we'll see it get better once the next front blows through or the rain comes and stays awhile
