NoHall! We have, like a whole month to lose an inch or two so we can breathe again in our perfect little size 6 20 year old prom gowns. (older for me )!!

I was a size 6 in Junior High...thank goodness my dress is a bit bigger than that! If I can lose 4 inches I'm going in my mother's dress! My dress celebrates it's 20th birthday this year, and my mother's is 50 years old. But both of them are looking at me like they want to party.

How long does it take to lose an inch or two, anyway?

Fat clothes? I'm still growing. My problem has more to do with not throwing out the skinny clothes, thinking that I'll one day fit back into them.

Oh SJ, never say never. I have a pair of ancient (and embarassingly expensive so I could never bear to part with them) jeans and I couldn't even pull the zipper closed after the holidays and now I have wiggle room in them. Now those jeans will never find their way into the trash until they fall off in shreds. So it could happen to you too! Skinny clothes are good to have. Now, unless it is that you're growing muscles? In that case, toss those old skinny duds!!!

I think that over the last few years, I've grown a combination of muscles and fat. Zero of my dress shirts fit now, including neck size and arm length. I may have to break out my sewing machine and install some elastic bands in my pants, like grandma clothes.

I know a guy who had most of his dress shoes in his beach house when the neighbor's house caught fire and burned the surrounding homes to the ground as well (SC, not here). The man was probably 70 years old at the time. He had to go out and buy replacement dress shoes, and he discovered that his feet had grown, and he had been wearing shoes that were too small for the last twenty years.

I have 6 sizes of clothes hanging in every closet. There are some really expensive, cute clothes that are waaaaaaaay too small, but like you, SJ, I have hopes of wearing them again someday. When I was that small, I threw out all my fat clothes. Then, when I got fat, I had to buy all new stuff--gradually. When I throw 'em away next time, that's it. I hope.

...toss 'em! I have been slowly working my way through my closet. Yesterday, I went on a tear and just started pulling stuff of hangers into a pile on the floor. Today, I went and folded it all for the bags. The very last thing I tossed, was a pair of black leather pants I have owned for at least 10 years....

Oh my. This is sad. I had some too, years ago. Loved those things.

I never through my fat clothes away. There are two points to this.

One

If I start getting fat again, the cost of the food I've been shoveling into my mouth is going to cut into my clothes budget.

Two

Fat only goes on vacation, it is never truly gone.
