Why No Looters in Japan?

I was talking to a friend yesterday and compared the earthquake in Japan to Katrina when he said well there's no looting in Japan. I was caught off guard at the reality of this statement.

Sugar coat it how you want but there's definitely a fundamental difference in attitudes. Instead of stealing people in Japan are coming together helping their community. Asking not what others can do for them but rather what they can do to help themselves.

I love how regressives feel the need to compare every disaster to Katrina. :roll: I believe there is a small amount of looting taking place in Japan but nothing on the scale of other diasters around the world, we will just have to wait and see.

Why do you believe there is looting? Have you seen or read about it? Why do you think it wouldn't be on the same scale as other disasters? That's really why I posted to get others feedback/opinions as to the differences.

You have to admit it's difficult to comprehend people not trying to take advantage of a bad situation since it seems like the norm here nowadays. Heck we see looting when our sports team loses.

Your guess is as good as mine. I guess we can sit back and wait to see if looting videos pop up in the next couple days but I think we would have already seen them reported by the Western journalists already on the ground.

This would be a good story for the networks.
