I disagree. The Chicago-style dog at H&M in DeFunk just wouldn't be the same without the pickle. Pickles add a crunchiness to a sandwich, as opposed to lettuce that wilts.:D

but you LIKE pickles. We pickle haters don't like the pickle flavor left on a sandwich even after the pickle is removed. For us, we order without pickles.

On the pickle subject: FOR the pickle lovers ONLY...

A great sandwich is smoked turkey with mayo and bread and butter pickles and anything else that you might add... thought it sounded crazy from a friend of mine...BUT....don't knock it till you try it...It is now one of my favs....Oh and I am a CF lover too....love them pickles on them..but no CF in DEFUNK....:sosad:

I hear ya. Hubby is the same way with olives in salads and on pizzas.

I go to Fellini's:

Hi, I'll have a special slice minus #12 and a salad minus #12 with a glass of wine.

#12 is olives. No olives here on anything......I do let them soak in my martinis, but you know, that's different.

Styrofoam cup at the drive thru window. Take a pickle, leave a pickle.

I'm with the pickle separatists, one a pickle touches something it leaves the taste behind. It's not as thoughtful as say a tomato or iceberg lettuce. In fact the pickle is worse than the onion and must be stopped!

I like pickles (only Clausen Kosher Dills or the special ones FIRE makes) but only as a separate food/snack - I don't want them ON or IN any of my food.

Pickle overpowers the other flavors.

That's right. Pickles are bullies. They take over a hamburger and don't give the mustard and ketchup half a chance to be tasted. They are OK as a stand alone snack, especially sweet jerkins. ;-)

I think you mean gerkins, sweet jerkins and pickles is a whole other thread. ;-)

Holy Saint Pickle Sandwiches!! Turkey with Bread & Butter Pickles (8 big ones to be exact, and Hellmans or Duke's Mayo, and heavy on the pepper) sandwich is my ultimate FAVORITE! Yummy! I crave it every day of my life. I think a chill just ran down my spine ooooh. Everyone thinks I'm crazy til they try it! Are you my long lost twin sister?
