From WCSO:

The I-10 shutdown is causing major delays and congestion on Highway 90 and along Highway 20. This includes semis and large vehicles diverted from Interstate 10 who are trying to navigate one-lane roads east and westbound.

If you want to see a live list of updated road closures, visit https://perimetermap.com/Walton-FL *Here's a hint, if you don't see closures, the road is open. But, a quick check on your navigation will show you how long it's going to take to get to your destination. Red = bad.

Are some roads icy? Yes. Are there a lot of cars on the road? Also, yes. Why didn't "we" shut down all roads in the county? Because there are more than 1,000 roads in Walton County and that is physically impossible. Will we call your boss and tell them they should excuse you from work? Maybe. If you promise to bring us iced coffee after all this madness is over and tell us we're pretty.

The south end of the county has faired pretty well along Highway 98 and County Highway 30a. But, it's only a matter of time before that congestion makes its way down.

We hope this helps alleviate some questions. But, our best advice is to wait until the temperatures sustain above freezing to melt some of the stubborn ice we are seeing on our roads.
Walton County Emergency Management also has a community information line to take additional questions (850)-892-8392.
