wasnt this video posted here on SOWAL several months ago in a thread about coyotes? I know I have seen it before and could swear that it was on here. *goes to search function*
EDIT: found it

Well, I guess Barefootguy is John Esling. In the article Chick says he received the video from John. Sorry....:blush:didn't know it had already been posted. Oh well, it's nice to watch twice. They are really beautiful and fun to see them interacting together. Great work John! It must have been really exciting to get to watch them from your window.

So in the earlier thread where the video was posted, I do not see any mention that these are Red Wolves rather than Coyotes? (Maybe I missed that part?) Chuck's article describes these animals as Red Wolves. Do we know for sure? (I guess it is not really easy to tell?)

When I posted this earlier it was just to put faces to the "evil creatures" that were being discussed in that post. Hoping that it would soften their hearts a bit. I do believe they are Red Wolves, although I was told by some US Fish & Wildlife biologists that they could only be a mix of Red Wolf and Coyote. This was filmed in 2006, and that winter they moved out of here. I figured it would be possible for some of the wolves on St. Vincent to end up here. The folks there assured me they hadn't lost any. I later found this article --
Field Trip Earth: Wild Red Wolf Travels to Florida
Which shows that it could be possible.

I grew up with coyotes around me. I've been licked by a coyote. And these just didn't look like coyotes to me. I was told that I'm used to western coyotes and that eastern coyotes are a whole lot different. So who knows?

I feel blessed to have had 6 months to enjoy this family of whatever they are!
