Any recommendations for avoiding bites and/ or treating a bite? How long will these nasty pests be around ?

There is really only one thing that seems to work on the Yellow Flys and the Black or Dog Flys, down here. We've carried "Cactus Juice" since we opened our store 5-years ago and it seems to be the only thing that has any affect on the little buggers. Seacrest Sundries has a supply in stock, if you'd like to stop by and give it a try.

Use to not be a problem, but some people, decided they were bored and needed to get the plane grounded.

The state used to fly a plane over and spray for them. They've gotten progressively worse since the plane stopped.

Cuff, we do a couple of things. After being bit, we apply rubbing alcohol immediately. That's followed by a squirt of windex. If you have bites and you go to the beach, scrub some wet sand on the bite. This year we did buy some cactus juice and so far it seems to work at repelling them somewhat. Just hung the black ball yesterday. :creepy: Also, if you find yourself being chased by one or two. Stop. Be still and you can kill when they find a place to drink your blood. good luck!
