What's up with young adult trick or treaters? I'm not talking young folks that you KNOW... I'm talking 'hood cruisers who show up at the door after dark, pound on the door, and rudely hold out their hands... no greeting, no thanks.

Am I the only one that finds this weird, creepy, rather threatening, and imminently inappropriate ? :dunno:

What I find amazing is that you have trick or treaters at alll on this side of 98! I didn't think anyone trick or treated outside of Seaside, Baytowne or Escada!
We have never had one kid, big or small...

DuneAHH, that's why we turn off the porch lights and hang yellow caution tape to block the entrance to the driveway. You are exactly right about the type of trick-or-treater you described -- rude and scary. We also had a problem with people stealing the decorations on our front porch after getting their candy and with people driving through our lawn, breaking our sprinkler heads.

It's always sad to me not to be able to participate in Halloween because of a few bad apples. I miss seeing the excitement on the little kids' faces when they come to the door.

I know, right???
It's been years & years since anyone stopped (that we haven't specifically invited to come by on their WAY to one of the organized events). Before tonite, years ago, the last trick or treaters we had was a truckload of teenagers, one of whom was approx. 17 and pregnant (no costume). That seemed so terribly terribly sad to me.

BR - since we never expect anybody, of course the exterior lights were off; plus the neighborhood has no street lights and is very dark.

That is strange, have not had trick or treaters in seven years in Pt. Washington. Did you open the door???

It's been 7-10 years since we've had trick-or-treaters.
The man of the house opened the door and gave the bathrobe-hunchback-with-cell-phone-ear a fun size snicker bar.

Tricks or Treats is all about threats if you think about it. Give me treats or I will haunt you. What you have to do to handle the obnoxious ones is to scare the sh-t out of them when they come to your house.

It's not just north of 98. We're near Eastern Lake and rarely get any. None this year. Anybody need a couple of bags of Hershey's Kisses?

Canoehead and I still trick or treated at that age - but had costumes, manners, and her baby brother so we would get candy. :dunno:
