Art Exhibit Featuring Theresia McInnis Opens June 19

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) A+ Art Committee announces a solo exhibition with artist Theresia McInnis to run June 19 through August 21 at Northwest Florida State College South Walton Center. The exhibition will kick off with an opening reception on June 19 from 5-7pm at the college in the main building’s reception area.

A+Art strives to showcase local artists’ work in public places throughout Walton County. This solo exhibition is yet another perfect example of A+Art fulfilling their purpose. “These exhibitions offer a chance for the entire community to experience art and be introduced to the diverse and abundant talent of CAA’s member artists,” says Jennifer Steele, CAA’s Executive Director.

“My first experience in painting was working in oils as a hobby after finishing college,” says artist Theresia McInnis. “After retirement from public education, I explored other mediums but watercolor was my favorite. Painting allows me to recreate memorable experiences. The process of creating art helps me to look deep into and experience the beauty of my topic that might have been overlooked otherwise.”

“Theresia’s work is outstanding,” says Brenda Osborne, A+Art Committee Chair. “Her piece Bromeliads Gone Wild, won our Top of the Class juried art show for 2014. “The piece really displays masterful handling of brilliant colors in a breathtaking composition. We are excited to bring Theresia’s work to the public with this exhibit.”

McInnis won Best in Show for “Top of the Class 2014,” a juried art exhibition presented by the A+Art committee of the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. She is a member of the Arts Design Society, Cultural Arts Alliance, Okaloosa Public Arts, Mattie Kelly and Gilmer Arts.

Theresia’s work has primarily been of very detailed subjects but lately she finds enjoyment in found in telling just part of the story so that it may be interpreted as the viewer’s experience of a subject allows. Her ideal audience is someone who gets involved in the story that is created in a piece and is then evoked to bring his/her own experiences to the subject. Theresia enjoys sharing the story knowing that it may be quite different than the one that she’s experienced. Her original works are currently invoking memories for private owners.

Come out to the opening reception at NFSC South Walton Center on June 19 from 5-7pm and enjoy an evening with CAA members, artists and friends. The exhibit will run  through August 21.
 

Dancing Brave 
 

A+Art, a committee of the Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) of Walton County, and Northwest Florida State College partner to present the works of Cultural Arts Alliance member artists at the South Walton Center and at the Chautauqua Center of Northwest Florida State College.
