Gulf Cemetery will celebrate it’s centennial birthday Monday, May 26 at 10am by unveiling a historical marker during their Memorial Day Observance. The site will be recognized by the State of Florida as a historical landmark.
The Memorial Day event will include keynote remarks by Rev. Don Ullrich, Colonel, retired USAF. The Historic Marker will be unveiled by Michael Zimny, Specialist with the State of Florida Historical Council.
In honor of veterans, the World War II vintage planes known as “The War Birds” will conduct an honorary “Fly Over” in a missing man formation. At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees will be invited to place American flags at veterans graves.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be conducted at the Chapel at High Point, located across SR 393 from the cemetery. The public is welcome to attend.
