Emerald Coast Kids Provides an Online Resource for Parents

June 5, 2015 by SoWal Staff

EmeraldCoastKids.org provides locals and visitors with a one-stop shop of the most up-to-date information on all things kids, teens and families. The website, founded by Kellyanne Bartleson, is an online family resource guide serving Okaloosa and Walton Counties.

Families will find links to events and local calendars, places and things to do, education, child-care, activities, birthday party ideas, teen issues, summer programs and more. Useful info such as local emergency contacts, community service, fitness and nutrition, pet info, DIY/crafts, cooking/recipes, churches, kids eat free and happy hours can also be found on the website.

The idea for the website came about after Kellyanne realized that her “mom” friends regularly asked the same questions about where to find family activities and info in our community. What sets this website apart from others is its extensive database.

EmeraldCoastKids.org is the most comprehensive website I’ve seen, especially for us grandparents who need to know what’s going on in the Emerald Coast area for our grandkids,”  said Kay Phelan, Publicist at Phelan and Lowry, Ltd.

The user friendly format makes exploring the website easy and fun for new users, and fresh for returning users due to frequent website, social media, blog and newsletter updates. Many local parents already utilize the website as their go-to place for info.

“This website is an absolute necessity in my world! I’m a busy, working mom of two and I LOVE EmeraldCoastKids.org. Everything I need to know about what is going on around town for my kids (and myself) is listed on that site! We’ve needed something like this in the Destin/Santa Rosa Beach area for a long time. I’m so happy to have found it,” said Mandy Cooper, Walton County resident and Beachy Beach 30A Realtor.

Kellyanne's goal is for Walton and Okaloosa County parents, kids, teens and educators to use the website as the go-to place for information. Anyone can submit their family-friendly events to be included in the forum that lists quick links to events, school info, sports, activities, lessons, camps, homework help, teen info (new drivers, college resources, scholarships, test prep), birthday party ideas, pet resources, child care, and more.

Kellyanne wants to work with local businesses to promote family-friendly events, ideas, services, products and educational info. She also has goals of working with the schools on issues like anti-bullying, teen selfharm/suicide awareness and fitness and healthy living.  For sponsorship and advertising info, free listings or to co-sponsor an event, contact Kellyanne at (850) 797-4656 or emeraldcoastkids@yahoo.com.
