Inaugural Digital Graffiti Visiting Artists Series Convenes January 23-27

January 17, 2013 by SoWal Staff

Paving the way for digital art over the past six years, Alys Beach and its groundbreaking event, Digital Graffiti (DG), will bring another event series to the South Walton community and Scenic Highway 30A. Digital Graffiti provides a venue and reason for digital artists to showcase their one of a kind works.

Previous DG artists will convene January 23-27 at Alys Beach for the first workshop series of its kind. The public will have the opportunity to interact with these artists and get a rare glimpse into their creative process. During the Digital Graffiti Visiting Artist Series, past DG participants and winners will reside under one roof and work with DG Curator Brett Phares to create a collaborative work of art in addition to individual pieces, which may be included in the 2013 Digital Graffiti Festival on June 7-8.

"We are excited to set in motion a visiting artist series right here in the South Walton community," says Brett Phares, Digital Graffiti Curator. "We're bringing artists to Alys Beach to get to know the lay of the land, create some site-specific work, and raise the bar for the festival in June."

InFocus, a DG partner, will provide a variety of projectors for the artists to use throughout the series.

The workshop series is complimentary and open to the public on Saturday, January 26th from 4-6:00pm at the Alys Beach Community Center on 60 McGee Drive. During this two hour workshop, participants will have the opportunity for discussion with the artists in residence, and a question and answer session.
