American Music at the Lodge is the 2019 series of unique concerts featuring American roots musicians performing at the lodge at Camp Helen State Park.  This impressive series of five indoor concerts is held on Saturday evenings at 6:30pm at Camp Helen's historic log cabin style lodge. The concert series is hosted by Lucky Mud and sponsored by Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection and the Friends of Camp Helen State Park. Entrance into the park for the concerts is free.

While the concerts are free, the Friends of Camp Helen request a donation to help with the continuance of the series and special projects that benefit the park. Refreshments will be available for a donation. Music schedule listed below...

January 5th : The Currys - Members of this Port St. Joe band have developed their brand of homegrown, harmony-rich Americana through summers of writing and performing on the Florida Gulf Coast.  This local trio, with two brothers and a cousin, has gained a regional following, performing regularly at festivals and venues across the Southeast.

January 19th: Wyatt Espalin - Raised in the mountains of North Georgia by loving Grandparents, Wyatt is a force of nature.  Open and touchingly deep songs about love, loss and sense of place, this performer will touch your heart.

February 2nd: Pierce Pettis - There is no finer songwriter in the county today than Pierce Pettis.  He has had songs recorded by such greats as Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Dion & the Belmonts.  His music is a reflection of time spent in Muscle Shoals, Nashville & New York.

February 16th: Lis & Lon Williamson - Beautiful voices, stellar musicianship and songs wrought from jazz, swing, folk and roots traditions all brought together in one magnificent package in the form of this Florida trio.

March 2nd:  The Rough & Tumble - Nashville refugees, by choice and musical scope, this young duo is dynamic, inventive and totally impressive.

Concerts start at 6:30 and the doors open at 6pm. You will be given a number upon your arrival at the lodge and the opportunity to select your seat by placing your number on a chair. Then, feel free to roam around Camp Helen and enjoy the beauty of our park. From the view of the pristine waters of Lake Powell, one of the world’s largest barrier dune lakes, to the out buildings that create the "camp" aspect of the park and the natural beauty, even in the dead of a Florida winter, you can appreciate the wonders that make Camp Helen a very special place in the heart of the Florida Panhandle.

Entrance into the park for the concerts is free.  Camp Helen State Park is at 23937 Panama City Beach Parkway (Highway 98 near Lake Powell).  The Friends of Camp Helen requests donations all of which will be used to benefit the park.  For more information, call (850) 233-5059, go to our website www.friendsofcamphelen.org, like us on Facebook, or email us at camphelenfriends@gmail.com.

Camp Helen State Park is a place where visitors can explore an environment rich in natural and cultural resources. The park is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on three sides, and by Lake Powell, one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida. Prehistoric middens and mounds indicate that humans inhabited the area more than 4,000 years ago. From 1945 until 1987 Camp Helen was a company resort for the employees of an Alabama textile mill, known as Avondale Mills. Some of those buildings have now been restored. This 180-acre park is for day use only. Activities include swimming, beachcombing, nature study, hiking and both freshwater and saltwater fishing.

Camp Helen State Park is located west of Panama City Beach on U.S. 98 at the west end of the Phillips Inlet bridge, just inside Bay County. The entrance is South of U.S. Hwy 98 and approximately six miles west of State Road 79.
