You are so right, I know this, I just can't seem to break the habit. I also feel like the house has to be clean before I leave. I'm worn out by the time I get in the car to leave.

you need to come and spend some time with me - i can wear the neatness out of anyone ! my hubby was a neatnik, he came from a perfect home that never has a speck of dust in it. then he hooked up with me - the ultimate slob....after 14 years he has given up - if he wants something cleaned he does it himself....

I sooooooo know this feeling! I hate coming home to a dirty house. But, like you, I'm exhausted by the time we leave....speakin' of which, I better get busy cleaning!! :bang:

I can't wait to tell Bdarg that I am not the only one that cleans before vacation. You are so right- coming home after vacay is hard enough, but coming home to a dirty house is the pits. Even when we didn't have a housesitter actually staying here, I cleaned the house. When we did have a housesitter, well, let's just say I practiacally did spring cleaning.

Random thought. . . I just finished ironing and getting things in order to pack for vacation. Why do I iron and then pack them just so they can get wrinkled again. Total waste of time and energy. :dunno:

why does anyone iron anything ever? in my house if it needs ironing that bad, it goes to the goodwill. end of story.

my Italiano mother is in Rome right now with all her sisters and cousins (all women) where they are eating, screaming and telling the Pope what to do.

anyway, my mom had that need to do an extra good cleaning on her house before she could leave the country. she said if something happened to her, no one outside the immediate family was allowed to look in her closet under any circumstances. I can relate.

oh, me too!
One of my dear friends made me promise years ago that if anything ever happened to her (like if she died suddenly) to go to her house and clean it and remove certain items BEFORE her mother got there. The promise still stands.

All clothes have to be washed before returning from vacation, can't stand to put dirty clothes in a suitcase.

I think this is my mother's fault. She used to tell me "make sure your underwear doesn't have holes in them, you may have a wreck and have to go to the hospital." The things we do to our kids.
