SJ is right...OPEC is an el Diablo that we have created. All I know is that Honda is coming out with a fuel cell car. Where is Detroit? Why are tax breaks for hybrids being phased out. Shouldn't we have continuous breaks for hybrids/electric/alternative fuel cars and excise taxes for SUVs?? Oh, I'm sorry, that would put the lid on an already crippled big three in Detroit. Take wasteful vehicles out of the picture , and America doesn't need to import oil at all. This is an issue that the free market cannot fix. Govt. has to reward good behavior, and if you need to have that big rig, well, pay up!

I have been meaning to post a similiar message. Yes, George is not too swift and he has been an incompetent and possibly our WORST president BUT he is our president for better or worse and he does represent our country. He certainly deserves criticism for his wrong-headed policies both domestic and foreign BUT he is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and thus deserves respect. A hundred years from now when Hillary, Kerry, Reid , Hastert and Rumsfeld are but footnotes , books will be written about Bush and his times.

BOYCOTT CITGO AND CESAR CHAVEZ !!!!!!!
Maybe you'll post more now that you know us....:D It was nice meeting you last night...thanks for coming out.

Also, where do you draw the line for buying gas from Citgo? Do you buy it during a hurricane evacuation? Are you suggesting that I drive an extra twenty miles and burn even more fuel just to get to the station that has dumped thousands of gallons of oil into the waters around Alaska? Alon the 30A area of SoWal, Citgo is the only choice. Just in case you didn't know, Tom Thumb is a Citgo affiliate here in SoWal.

Heck, buy gas anywhere in Walton County, and no matter who the retailer is, chances are that the gas came from a Citgo Terminal in Niceville or Panama City, so it's not like you can ever really avoid the company in these parts.

One need not drive a tiny car in order to get good gas mileage. One needs to simply have an engine in the automobile which is very efficient. ;-) Today's engines are far from being effecient.

This is why we bought a diesel engine a couple of months ago...I get a large car (big four door sedan) that is getting 37 miles to the gallon and 780 miles on a tank, from Birmingham I can drive to the beach, home and back to the beach again on one tank. It is the new cdi engine, and it burns cleaner than a gasoline engine, a lot lower emissions.

Why don't more American made cars have this:dunno: I know if I had of bought a smaller car I would be getting even better mileage but I can't give it all up!

You know, that's the thing that really bugs me. The right wing nuts always make it seem like the liberals are trying to take your SUV away and make you drive a family of four around in a Mini. I have no problem with people who use their SUV having them, and I don't think 99% of greenies do, either. If you live down here, you use your SUV to pull boats and drive off road everyday. I've even coveted them on occasion. The key is just not to be wasteful. My friend that lives in Atlanta, is single, and doesn't own a pair of shoes without a minimum of 2" heels...she is being wasteful driving an SUV. IBD, I think you actually put yours to good use!
