Don't Buy Citgo!

gas is 26 cents cheaper here in SC than in Florida.....no one can tell me it is because SC is buying cheaper gas...come on.....stations are hiking prices up just because it is a tourist area!!!!!!!
I bought gas for 2.02 a gallon in SC ....in Fla it was 2.29!!:roll: :roll: :roll: GOUGING!!!!!!

gas in Fla is always more expensive by far.

I just think that the gas prices are more in areas that know they have you by the you know what especially Florida & the Northern areas. I guarantee that by November the prices will SKY ROCKET again!

Perhaps profit margins are greater at some stores, but I doubt that is the whole truth. We don't see hidden things like distribution costs, and taxes on gasoline are often invisible to most people. Maybe these two things contribute to higher prices here. I don't see much difference between gas prices here and in those prices in the state of NC.On the drive between here and Asheville, NC, Dothan, AL has the cheapest prices around. However, even $.10/gallon = only $1.60 more per fill up for a 16 gallon tank sitting on empty, so don't be tricked into thinking that this difference in price is the real problem. Yell and scream at your politicians and automakers to make more effecient engines. Heck, if we can have a computer in our pocket phone, certainly the engineers can get more than 16 mpg out of a decent sized engine. Yell and scream a bit.

One need not drive a tiny car in order to get good gas mileage. One needs to simply have an engine in the automobile which is very efficient. ;-) Today's engines are far from being effecient.

I am all for a good engine and good mileage. I am hoping to purchase a new one soon, any suggestions???

This is why we bought a diesel engine a couple of months ago...I get a large car (big four door sedan) that is getting 37 miles to the gallon and 780 miles on a tank,from Birmingham I can drive to the beach, home and back to the beach again on one tank. It is the new cdi engine, and it burns cleaner than a gasoline engine, a lot lower emissions.

Why don't more American made cars have this I know if I had of bought a smaller car I would be getting even better mileage but I can't give it all up!

You know, that's the thing that really bugs me. The right wing nuts always make it seem like the liberals are trying to take your SUV away and make you drive a family of four around in a Mini. I have no problem with people who use their SUV having them, and I don't think 99% of greenies do, either. If you live down here, you use your SUV to pull boats and drive off road everyday. I've even coveted them on occasion. The key is just not to be wasteful. My friend that lives in Atlanta, is single, and doesn't own a pair of shoes without a minimum of 2" heels...she is being wasteful driving an SUV. IBD, I think you actually put yours to good use!

I always have a sign, post hole diggers, rolling computer case, hundreds of cheerios,...............my car is never empty, that is for sure...If it is any comfort to some of ya. I carpool with 2 other families in my neighborhood. So I only drive to PCB once every 3 weeks in the mornings. That is a week I do enjoy, my gas gage stays full....

I always have a sign, post hole diggers, rolling computer case, hundreds of cheerios,...............my car is never empty, that is for sure...If it is any comfort to some of ya. I carpool with 2 other families in my neighborhood. So I only drive to PCB once every 3 weeks in the mornings. That is a week I do enjoy, my gas gage stays full....

Mercedes E class. We had an M class and loved the room in it...it was big enough for us, but I was feeling bad about the 16 mpg's it was getting. They are coming out with the M class diesel in a few months but they were not able to tell us what the mpg would be. Why don't more cars use this new technology?

I love my new car, love the lower emissions, love the the size, it is actually 6 inches longer than the M class. If you remember Mr. BB and I are both pretty tall and we have lots of leg room, huge trunk. We are just trying to make a difference any way we can. Now, if I could only make my own fuel. Have some friends that are making their own bio-diesel, wonder if I could fuel up at their house

Let me know you can test drive next time I am down. We will be down for the Saturday Halloweenie parties.

IBD, as you know, my brother drives a big truck. It is a 2500 Chevy, 4 door, but it is diesel and he claims it gets around 24-28 mpg, which is better than the average car. Of course, it is so difficult to find stations which sell diesel that he, as many other diesel owners do, has installed an extra fuel tank in the back.

Diesel engines have been around for a long time and have always been more effecient than the gasoline engine. In fact, Mr Diesel built the original engine to for farmers to use, so that they could produce their own biofuel from plants. Interesting, eh?

Mr. IBD has a diesel truck as well, Ford F250, 4 door, but I dont think his gas milage is very good. Maybe it is the super speed chip that all the Eufaula boys have in theirs and he just HAD TO HAVE!!!;-)
