It is 44 and chilly here now- certainly feels like fall! Even though there is no color change, the light is different- we have fall light- which I I love almost more than the leaves.
Good sowal morning! Isn't it supposed to get up to like 81 today?
I know that trick or treat is supposed to be warm. Which reminds me of a thread I need to start- need to get coffee first.thanks bsmart...those pics remind me of home...i grew up in north Ga. and yes...it is supposed to get into the 80's today here....unlike N. Ga. in october..![]()
Yes, dahlias and gladiolas are annuals, and need to be taken up and replanted in Spring for summer bloom in NY. I don't take up the glads, just replant, but my dahlias I usally do, but this year didn't get to them in time.I do get a lot of glads back in a rock garden I have because I leave the leaves in it for cover, and so between the rocks and leaves, quite a few come back the following year, but that's the only reason why.
They is a breed of glads (short ones) that the Dutch bulb companies say can be perennial, but I got them for a couple of years here only.
We got a lot wnd this weekend, and had a lot of power outtages locally.
I fortunately did not lose power though, but the yard is a mess from broken branches. Looks like I have to play pick up sticks tomorrow.![]()

Don't give up hope on the dahlias. Although they are supposed to be dug up in the fall, every now and then one of them proves to be a tough customer and refuses to die during the winter. I've had them sporadically return, just like rosemary, another one that's supposed to whither in the winter.![]()

nice pics, sorry about the jaw. all my crap in the yard has died, but the neighbor's leaves are all in our yard![]()
