I got a call this morning from my Bank and apparently someone was trying to purchase tickets to Belgium and England and other on-line merchandise.
My caller ID showed the Bank, but I still asked for his name and number to call him back as I know there is a scam going around trying to gain info.
It was a real security agent. I hardly use my debit card, so I am wondering how someone gained access to my number? and I certainly do not use it on line. I use cash for this reason.
Wonder if they managed to break through the bank firewall? :dunno:

Any hoo, they locked up the account as soon as the second airline ticket was purchased and are doing an investigation.

Happy holidays to me huh. :sosad:

This is terrible......my info got stolen on e-bay last year and caused me a bunch of trouble!!!!!! I don't use my debit online anymore, what a hassle that was for a couple of months!! thank goodness your bank caught it.

I used my card so much this weekend the bank called me 3 times to make sure it was me using it. Would have been ok if I got the calls, but my husband was at home answering all of them. I had to come home and explain my spending spree  Was hopping to avoid that until after the holidays.

This is what scares me about using my debit card, I bank with Bank of America and apparently I do not have a daily spending limit nor an ATM limit with my debit card, so if this happens to me it's Merry Christmas to whomever finds it/steals it.

But hey with my law tuition it's not like they will find much in there anyway. :funn:

This is what will happen in a just world: the thief will show up at the international airport and when he/she whips out the ill-gotten tickets, they will be confiscated...along with their passport! That will serve them right. And night or two or more in the pokey instead of the plane. :D

How did they get your info!?
Well I am certainly glad your bank was on top of it.

I suspect this is was an "inside" job due to my minimal usage of of my debit card. I especially never have ever used it on-line.
But, I the strange thing is I did use the debit at CVS, and they had trouble with doing a return because they said they had a new computer system. It's possible that they had a breach in their firewall.
So, just to be on the safe side peeps, use cash at CVS for a while.

What do you think? :rotfl:
