D&A Maintenance has teamed up with event producer Jenifer Kuntz to facilitate a community discussion regarding environmental issues in Walton County. We will be showing An Inconvenient Truth, a slide presentation documenting global warming, followed by a roundtable discussion about Walton Counties? responsibilities as stewards of the environment. The discussion will address two points, our power and our waste.

Following the film, representatives from Alabama Electric Company and Waste Management will each give a 10-15 minute presentation about Walton Counties? current power, and waste/recycling programs. After which the audience will take part in a Q&A discussion with the representatives. We will be investigating/understanding where our power comes from, what constitutes green energy and is it in our future. And, where does our garbage go, what sort of recycling does Walton County have, and can we implement a more comprehensive recycling program.

This will not be a political event, but rather an opportunity for the community to come together to discuss the state of the environment both globally and locally.

Additional sponsors and guests will have informational booths. Guests include Sundog Books offering topic related literature, For the Health of it serving natural snacks and beverages, Tiahrt Lopez Construction sharing green building practices, D&A Maintenance educating guests on home efficiency, as well as several others.

Alabama Electric Company? Why not Chelco or Gulf Power?

Sounds like a great program, but this was confusing to me.....:dunno:

We began communicating with CHELCO about the event and found out that Alabama Electric Company actually produces our electricity and CHELCO purchases it from them. CHELCO is simply a coop set up years ago by citizens of Walton and surrounding counties to supply electricity to this remote area. Because CHELCO does not produce the electricity, they have arranged for a rep from AEC to come give a short presentation on how our energy is produced. The goal is to facilitate a community discussion about green forms of energy, and to create an event that will allow any member of our community to ask questions and express their desires and concerns directly with the producer of our power, AEC.

Here's some Truth's. In the 70's we were headed towards a new ice age. Didn't happen. What stopped the ice age 10,000 years ago... Global Warming. Al Gore did not invent the internet. He and his old boss allowed Bin Laden not to be given to US Custody pre 9/11. He had dead people vote for him in 2000. His administration allowed over a TRILLION Dollars to be stolen in the Mutual Fund/Coporate scandals in the late 90's. His old Boss now has kids believing a Blow Job isn't a Sexual Relationship. Electric Cars are as destructive as Gas powered cars.
Just maybe it could be the natural processes of our solar system that heat and cool the Earth. Sure we've done plenty to mess this planet up. And we can and should do more to limit our impact. We Americans are the biggest consumers of oil, gas, electricity, landfills and plastics the World has ever seen. We can do more too limit our impact but buyer beware of any Politicians Message of Global Warming.
