Anyone have furniture from Crate and Barrel? I am in the market for a dining room table and buffet. Have looked at the stores but not found what I want. It is either too fancy or too casual or too expensive!!!! In the catalog, I noticed a set that might work. Just wanted to see if thier furniture is well made or just trendy.

I say just trendy. Same goes for Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware.

I have two pieces of Crate and Barrel furniture, and I was disappointed by both. The first I ordered from the catalog -- a media console -- and the finish was not anything like I expected, the shipping was pretty expensive, and I had to assemble it. By the time I got it assembled and didn't like it, taking it apart and shipping it back seemed like more trouble than it was worth. I would recommend Room and Board -- they have quality furniture with a great aesthetic, and their delivery service is excellent.

I have furniture from Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn. C&B is a little better quality. I also have furniture from Ballard Designs and I love them the best! A lot of designers seem to use them too. More bang for the buck.

You know, it's not furniture that you might pass down through the generations, but it still is reasonably priced AND trendy. I stopped buying furniture at Marshall Fields and Ethan Allen after my son was born. Fabulous furniture but with prices to match the craftsmanship.

I say go for it and try it out. Find a store that's nearby and check it out.

Here's a pretty bad cameraphone picture of our very nice solid walnut table from Room & Board (and yes, reupholstering the chairs is now high on the agenda) The picture in no way does the grain of the table justice.

Very good customer service and buying experience, and we plan on buying other furniture from them in the future. And for solid wood furniture made in America, their prices are very reasonable.

Love this set! I'm going to look around here and see if we have a Room & Board. :clap_1:

I had good luck with a fabulous kitchen set I bought from C&B Boston store. Used it for years, then gave it to my son for his first apt, and he used it for awhile, and then gave it to a friend who still has it.

I like the Boston store--the one in Chicago is good too for furniture.

While I think Pottery Barn looks good, I was disappointed with the lack of wood on some pieces. Ballard Design is one of my favorite catalogs and there is an outlet in Atlanta. I have to goto ATL to see either store.:bang:

If it lasted through you and your son, seems like a good piece of furniture. Just trying to find a set that will not get wobbly.

Many tables I have seen have these " marks" on the top to add character and were very expensivet! I prefer to add my own character marks!
