Hey skunky, I think the mouse is still hanging around. Saw what loooked like him yesterday sitting outside my window looking at me.
Maybe I should send him to Mermy's to hunt down the daddy long legs.

No no no critters in my house! I have two teens and that's all the "critter" I need, thank you very much!

EEEWW. Wolf spiders get their name from the way they hunt their prey.
I am so allergic to spider bites. Some like to burrow, which is why they might like beds and covers.
Got bit by one on my hand once, and woke up with what looked like a crab claw.
I've been bitten a few times by spiders and it isn't pleasant.
Give me a Bee or Wasp sting anyday instead of a spider bite. One time, I was bitten underneath my pinky toe by a spider, and it quickly grew to be about the same size as by big toe:eek:. I freaked out. I was maybe 14 yrs old, and all alone on the farm, reading through the encyclopedia trying to determine if it was a Brown Recluse, because when I felt the bite, I thought it was a sticker, and went to get it out of my foot, only to see a small brown colored spider. The other bites which I've had came silently in the night while camping, with the spiders leaving nothing more than their fang marks and bruised, sore skin and muscle, a little more painful than the after affects of getting a Tetnus shot.

Nothing wrong with a little daddy long legs - taste like chicken.
Yes, but they are too much work for the amount of meat you get, kind of like crabs.

Rapunz had a close encounter with a big Florida wolf spider this morning. BDarg, you got off the hook cuz I was here:lol:

 wolf spiders are so creepy! they have meat on their bones! and can be huge!

I had a very close encounter years ago in Gainesville when we lived in our first tiny "love shack" apartment. very early in the morning, got out of the shower, grabbed my towel which had a big giant wolf spider nestled inside it, started to dry off and it ran down my entire body. it was off before I saw it clearly. talk about screaming my head off for several minutes, scaring the crap out of kurt. (I had never seen such a spider so it was really a shock)

apparently there was a nest living in the attic.

Good Lord, Tootsie.
I am very brave with all creatures with the huge exception of spiders, at least ones larger than nickel-sized. A wolf spider running down my body would send me into cardiac arrest. Only seen one once, in California. That was enough.

SJ, spider bites can be very dangerous. We had no way of proving it because we did not do an autopsy, but we and our vet were pretty sure that it was a spider bite that killed our (admittedly, very old) dog years ago. Her leg swelled up, then she seemed to get better, but within a couple weeks she quit eating and died.

This thread is giving me the willies. I hate spiders!Daddy long legs don't bother me but the big hairy ones do! I throw books on them and then when Mr OL comes home he has to clean them up!! He's a good man. :clap_1:

I am reminded of the last time I visited my mom, who was keeping her grandson, who just turned four years old at the time. He was showing me his bug observatory, which is a plastic box with a hole in the top so that you can drop bugs into. It has air vents and a magnifying glass on top for observing the critters you catch. No biggy, right. Well, I look inside and underneath the plastic tree in the box, I see a Brown Recluse Spider (a real one). Since my mom hates bugs, especially spiders, I asked her if she new that my nephew had captured a Brown Recluse which was in the observation box. She told me that they had caught a spider the night before and put it in the box, but the box was supposed to be outside. :funn: She also told me that she thought it might be a Brown Recluse, but wasn't sure. :)idontno: So they caught it anyway to let a 4 year old check it out??? :dunno: This is a four year old who is curious to know everything, sticking his hands into holes in trees  and down into buckets of live crabs, etc.). Mom, became a little alarmed, so I showed my nephew the joys of releasing the animals back into the wild (far away from mom's house) after observing them and taking some notes about what he observed). Suddenly, he wanted to release the lizards and ants which he caught and placed in other observation boxes. :funn: It was kind of cute. He also learned the importance of learning about the potential dangers of animals. ;-) We didn't dare let his mother find out.:nono1: She was really upset with me when she found out that I let him touch a live alligator on his last visit. Don't want to tell mommy everything, now do we.

No we don't. Being the mother of a 19 y/o I have decided that ignorance is bliss.
