It was a pleasure to meet the Park moms. We seem to have the same goals for our children. The green-shirt-wearing mothers seemed to consume all the energy, and when the dust clears, they will be totally baffled and pissed because there will be a parking lot to accent the big ugly condo. Bottom line is, most of the people that live there are time share owners. On a good note, I and Smiling Joe may arm ourselves and squat on the property in front of the Majestic and take the beachfront property ourselves. It's O.K. We'll let ya park there. On one note, there is no such thing as a private beach. If ya wanna argue that I'll provide proof. Mahalo and educate yourself here: www.surfrider.org

Please do so where we can all understand. Mahalo!

First, let me give kudos to the Moms of Mission Park, for sticking through five and a half hours of the BCC meeting to represent their Mission. You girls are great!

I think Cindy does a good job at asking questions and presenting solutions most of the time.

Regarding the park behind the Court House Annex (not to be confused with Mission Park), the grant, if received, will match only the downpayment of $360,000 for the purchase of the $1.25 million piece of property for the park on JD Miller Rd. Additional grants for building the park could be applied for after the property is purchased. If the grant to match the downpayment is not received, the land will most likely not be purchased by the County. Let's hope that they receive the grant.

One thing that should be noted is the fact that Commissioners Scott Brannon and Ken Pridgen voted in opposition of trying to move forward and purchase the property. They don't mind spending more than $10 Million for a horse park in Mossy Head, but heaven forbid they spend one on recreation for SoWal, outside of their districts. I have a smiley for those two... (cover your eyes, kids)

When did these guys vote to spend $10 million for a horse park? Where at in Mossy Head? I have not seen this in the minutes or anywhere else for that matter. Or is this just something you are saying to build up opposition to these two commissioners?

You see, BlueMtnBeachVagrant, ownership is as clear as mud. I know of no Gulf Front property in Walton County which has not been used without objection by the landowner for more than twenty years. Erecting a sign now, doesn't do much in the eyes of the courts, if those two cases sighted in the above link are correct. Although I don't own Gulf Front property, I do own property which had a jeep trail on it for years, and was widend by 50 ft, and paved as a two way road, for public use. The County never bothered getting a survey, because if they would have, they would have seen that the property adjacent and east of my property was deeded for the road. I think the beach property is no different from mine, in that it has been used by the public for numerous years, so it is deemed public, even though I own it and pay taxes on the road and right of way.
