Oh jeesh. I was just admiring his clean cage and he crawled up to the second level and I realized ( too late) that I put the top to it on backwards and the tunnel leading up the upstairs didn't have anything connected to it and he fell into the bottom of the cage. Man, I think he's okay though. Nothing like adding insult to injury if he is aging. I fixed us cage and added a little extra fluff for his bed.;-)

Can't help you on the weight loss thing.

But I am cracking up- just re-read this thread, and it is true- you can find out just about anything reading SoWal. Learning how to sex hamsters is an important life skill. :rotfl:

At what point did you realize it was a year old? I love it when someone does this and I don't notice right away and things just "don't seem right" or you have that deja vous feeling...then I'm like DUH, this is from 2005!!!

Jenay, you mean you never had to take care of a "fixed" hamster? :))))

just read thru this whole thread thinking it was new... happy bday Louie!

I think he needs a friend. seriously!

I just got my 4th hermit crab. they are going to start calling me the hermit crab lady. plus, we have Lulu the girl dog (we have a song we made up about "Lulu the Girl Dog".)

if it were up to me I would have 4 dogs, a pet pig, some kind of birds, and a bearded dragon (they are so sweet and soft! we held one at gulf world last year and spidey and I wanted him!).

Thanks Aud.:D I hope he does make it till the next one!

good point.

at this point Lulu goes with us (takes up half the car), hermits take care of selves.

Lewis is pretty self contained too. I hear that bearded dragons are one of the best pets you can have. I've been holding Dylan off for the past couple of years. We have friends that have one and he's part of the family. I just don't think I'm ready yet. I pet sat an iguana a few years ago. We made it a salad everyday. it was kind of a pain. I bet the dragons eat the same.
