"The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.
-- Hyman G. Rickover "

This quote doesn't belong here. This quote refers to training for war as if you are in war, so that when you are, you will be tough enough! It is a fighters quote.
Anyway, peace to all of you who seek it. To the non combat people who want war.... sign up and leave the kids alone!!!!!!!
I agree with the spirit of your response, but Rickover was one of histories greats. Our nuclear fleet was the number one reason the USSR never tried anything during the cold war. Thousands endured and continue to endure dangerous and extended isolation to ward off any mass attack on The U.S. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyman_Rickover[/ame] Rickover was an interesting fellow. Read about his warnings about fossil fuel consumption.

Knowing our personal mission further enhances the flow of mysterious coincidences as we are guided toward our destinies. First we have a question, then dreams, daydreams, and intuitions lead us toward the answers, which usually are synchronistically provided by the wisdom of another human being.

Lightworker,
Do you have one of those dreamcatchers? If so, do you believe it works?

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
George S. Patton

Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle.

Spoken like a general who rides behind it with pearl handle pistols! You wouldn't use that quote had you carried an 80 pound pack and a 25 pound machine gun into the carnival of death when you were 18 !

True, even if it wasn't very bright, I love the war Nathan Bedford Forrest fought, with 29 horses shot out from under him. I just needed to quote Patton to somewhat even it out with all of the hippies and peyote smokers on here.

I don't want to twist this thread so this is the last I'll say on this.

I have never known a GRUNT who ever loved "the sting of battle" ! If he thought WW 1 was an adventure, then he wasn't in a sane mind.

Perhaps;he also was convinced he was the incarnation of an ancient soldier (I think in Alexander's era, but I might be wrong). There is often a fine line between genius and insanity.

Patton had a ton of weird beliefs, but he was a hell of a general, and his beliefs were not weirder than believing that we are guided towards destiny by our daydreams.
