Birmingham and Watersound
Other than our garage/basement (which is Flyforfunn's mess!) our house stays pretty organized and clean. My closests could use some help. The basement is not dirty, it is just packed to the rafters (or is it just beams in a basement?), he is a pack rat! Of course the Watersound house is new so I'd just ask you to help finish unpacking boxes! The clinic stays clean too, with some help. I have friends that say they have no idea how I do it all. Neither do I. :dunno: I am a bit OCD about some things, keeping things picked up is one of them. My grandmother always told me to put things back where you got them and things will stay tidy. It is true.

So come on over any time Kat! My foods not as good as yours.....so I'll just take you out to dinner! :D

Drop in any time :welcome: I'm pretty boring. What I type is what you get.

My house will be "picked up", the bed will be made and everything will appear clean to most men, but the women will notice it's not spotless. You'll find wine and beer in the fridge, help yourself. The closets are a mess, but that's why they have doors.

Our lifestyle is a pretty typical lifestyle and house in a large midwestern college town in an old neighborhood with treelined (big old trees) streets, sidewalks, mismatched houses many with porches, some yards and lawns taken care of better than others (we're in the middle in terms of taking care of our yard - not out of control, but not neatly manicured either). Our house is usually organized and clean enough as long as you don't go in the kids rooms (chaos)/back porch/basement/attic closets and if I'm not working on a project in my office (which is a recliner by the fireplace with my laptop and a bunch of newspapers/books/empty tea cups/toast plates strewn around the recliner - that's what it looks like right now and rather than cleaning it up I'm on sowal.com). Also, rather than clean it up I think I'll head outside to my outdoor office which is a nice lawn chair (it, too, reclines) facing the garden for the rest of the morning.

I've been spending the past 6 months and hope to spend the next 6 months just getting rid of more and more things that we don't need/use. Stuff can be overwhelming!

My desk is probably the messiest thing in the house. I don't know how it happens. It gets worse thoughout the school year with even more papers to add the the stacks. Overall it's generally clean but not spotless for sure. I've always been the mom playing with the kids or taking them somewhere rather than obsessing over a clean house. Hmm, no kids here since they're at school so maybe I should be cleaning....nah, sowal is more funn.

My home is usually neat & tidy, but not always clean (I need to scrub bathrooms as I type this)
I love my home! It is funn, funky and eclectic. Everything in my home has a special meaning: a fire poker that belonged to my grandmother, cherished childhood books, stones & shells from special places I have visited, photos and art that I love... . My home is filled with, not posessions, but memories:love:

Mine is probably what you would expect: Momentos of and from loved ones scattered throughout! Pencil drawing of Rowie P in living room.

Quick...go to PotteryBarn.com or ballarddesigns.com and order a good looking bulletin board! And you are correct...only dull women have immaculate houses! :D

....... I am also a pack rat, so I keep everything for fear that as soon as I throw it away, I'll need it. ..... I also need a decorator ...... Don't even like to go into the attic. It is a real dumping ground.:bang:
DITTO!

This is what my mom said too, but I guess just like other things she said - it didn't take on me!! :D

you wouldn't get in the front door for the dog, unless i was there. paper is my issue, and finding a place for it.
My dog is our doorbell. But she'd let you in.;-)
You wouldn't be able to sit at the table with us for a cup of tea without moving the papers off that fourth chair. That's where ours pile up.
And papers, bills, and "stuff" on the ends of all the kitchen counters. I even bought a special cart w/drawer to organize this clutter but it's still empty! :rotfl:
