1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate, but not the bitter kind
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? My parents told us that Santa brought them, but that they would wrap them. (This explained why Santa's wrapping paper was always the same as what my parents used.)
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? lights? Depends on my mood. I like white lights, but I also like the big ol' Charlie Brown looking colored lights sometimes. Tree? I love trees. (If you're asking about what kind, I have a fake one. Allergies, messes, tree killing--none are high on my list of things I like.)
4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, but God does.
5. When do you put your decorations up? Thanksgiving weekend. I put in my Christmas movies and have a wonderful time! It sounds strange, but it's one of my favorite times of the year that I spend with myself.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Sorry to break the rules, but my favorite holiday dish is my parents' candy. I'm not sure that we eat anything else between Dec. 1 and Jan. 5th-ish...I'm going into a sugar coma just thinking about it.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Coming down the stairs every Christmas morning and finding the electric heat pad tied around the stair rails with a sign that said, "STOP. GO BACK TO BED."
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Do we ever really learn the truth about Santa?
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? When we were little, we went to my grandmother's house next door and opened presents. Now I live here, and everyone comes over here on Christmas Eve and we exchange presents before church. After church, we go to my parents' house and all of us open more presents there. My parents and I save our gifts for Christmas morning. (My brother's family opens "Santa" presents at their own house in the morning.)
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? No "theme" tree for me. We've always liked to collect simple, funn ornaments. For instance, it took me YEARS to find something to go on top because I'm not fond of creepy fat angels or blinky stars. I'll have to post a picture later--I have a goose with really long legs, striped stockings, , high-heeled shoes, and a furry hat.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Is this still a Christmas survey? If we ever get snow, it's in January or February or April.
12. Can you ice skate? Of course.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? All of them
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Surviving the ten thousand performances that lead up to it.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? My dad's divinity, closely followed by mom's fudge.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Just being with my family.
17. What tops your tree? Betty, the Goose. (See question 10.)
18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? I'm really awkward about giving. I'm always nervous about not giving the right thing.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? The Chipmunk Song
20. Candy Canes? Wouldn't it be amazing if they made them out of chocolate?
