That's a question I get asked ALL the time....What was your application video???

It all started when Justin, Hunter and I evacuated to Houston to visit my Sister and Mother....one evening I was watching reruns of The Race on GSN...Joni came in and asked what I was watching...she had never seen the show....she sat there for a while...I turned to her and said....You want to apply? She says Sure.... we go to cbs.com ..... they were taking apps...had to be in LA by the next tuesday...this was a friday....Justin got the video camera out...sat on the floor....Joni and I decided to make a "practice video" to see how we came across on camera....to see just what we could say in 3 minutes....so we sat there and just chatted...about ourselves....about each other....we kept asking if the 3 minutes were up....our plan was to watch the video...go change clothes and put on make-up...fix our hair...and THEN do the REAL video....but....we plugged in the practice video and it was HYSTERICAL...We both sounded TOTALLY like southern hicks....we talked over each other not paying attention to what the other person was saying....But...It showed WHO we were....It showed our personality...and that we were at ease on camera and we could get our personalites to come across on camera....I told Joni...we are sending this one....and we did.

SO BIG Elaborate edited videos are NOT required...Just BE YOURSELF....Don't try to be anything different....I heard that many time contestant videos are Great....but then when they do a live on camera audition...they totally suck....so BE Yourself. Either they Love you or you are not what they are looking for.

I Did make observations at Finals....there were LOTS of 20somethings.....Alpha Males and Model type females....there were LOTS of couples...of all ages.....There were fewer 30somethings and even fewer 40 somethings....few 50 somethings....and very few 60 somethings....

So I gathered that The older you are the better chance you have getting cast....as the older you get the less likely they are to find a team in that age group that can meet the requirements and be able to be gone for so long without anyone knowing where you are and having NO contact with family and friends....

We told people that I was going on a Mission Trip to China...of course...the people that know me the best didn't buy THAT story for a moment

Make sure you are BOTH on camera at the same time and that you get their attention from the get go....

Kind of sorry to see the sisters go.

If the sisters hadn't been nice and told the lady in last place that was having trouble getting milk from her camel to "try one that had a baby, like that white one over there.", the sisters would have come in before her and not been out. I guess you can't be nice during a competition.

I know, as soon as they did that I said "I hope it doesn't come back and bitem in the behind. It did...or it appeared that way. You never really kow with editing. Either way I was sad to see the sisters go too. Mr OL and decided they were way more beautiful than the blondes thought they were gonna be. lol

Ugh, those blondes. The tall one, the one who cried when they made it to the mat, is ridiculous - that top she was wearing, what was that?!
Gramps and his comments about the sisters was pretty funny.

That, and the leggings that were horrible inappropriate clothing for a woman in western Africa. It wouldn't be that hard to bring along something like a silk or thin synthetic wrap skirt for countries with more conservative clothing ideas. I've got a couple skirts that are full enough to run in, and fold down to space roughly the size of a travel pack of kleenex.

Throw it on over the leggings or running pants when you're in town interacting with the locals (so many people are willing to be nicer to tourists who look like they're trying to be respectful of local standards), and then you can crumple it up enough to stash in your sports bra if you need to at a more physical task.
