No problem; like I noted, I had never heard that before. That little snippet was courtesy of some buddies in Tallahassee.

I'm still having issues with the mental image of the same company that produces G'Ade also canning Van Camp's Pork and Beans. That sounds like a pregnancy craving from hell. :creepy:
:rotfl:

So, really, did any of you ever hear him speak (God bless him)? I'm not gonna lie, I'd have to bite my lips at Gator events at which he was speaking because it was all I could do to keep my equanimity and avoid laughing. No disrespect intended BTW.

The original yellow and orange flavors are nasty, but some of the newer g'ade products are actually pretty good. The blue ones and the "frost" products aren't bad at all.

Obviously, we use Powerade but Coca-Cola needs to get with it on some of the flavors.

It is sad to learn of Dr. Cade's passing. The development of sports drinks in general is a pretty amazing story.

I think Gatorade is the nectar of the gods, and nothing tastes better than the original two flavors when I'm sick. When I'm not sick, I love the new grape flavor and whatever all those "rain" flavors are. (There's a lime, strawberry, lemonade...I don't remember right now.)

The lady who trained me for the marathon(s) swears by it, too. Sorry, SJ--PowerAde doesn't have the beneficial properties. A lot of people criticize Gatorade for the sodium and sugar, but your body loses sodium and sugar when you exercise. You need it back. And water can be dangerous--you drink a little bit of water, and your brain says, "Okay--you got me some water and I'm good," but you really need more and you dehydrate. You drink too much while your body is in high gear, and your liver says, "Hey, I'm busy, so I'm gonna just explode now. Thanks for the life, but we're done here."

Gatorade is perfect. I'm surprised it doesn't grow on trees or something.

Well, Dr. Cade was a nephrologist. He obviously knew all of this.

It's not like I sweat it out. :funn: Just curious as to what beneficial ingredient is missing from Powerade, which is in GatorAde?

I wish they would go back to the clear stuff, but I know that most kids buy according to the color of the stuff. Most of the flavors of both companies remind me too much of nasty cough syrup. I'll stick with the lemon lime. I guess they don't realize that some people are allergic to some of the dyes which they use.

I can't remember what the exact discrepancy is, but my marathon guru told me. There was something off-kilter about the amount of sugar or something. It works too much like water and fools your body into thinking you're hydrated. Or something like that.

Lemon lime is just amazing, and I think the reason I like the Rain version is that they're closer to being clear. Do they not make the clear ones anymore? I liked those, too.

What is the saying -- the cobbler's children have no shoes? Guess he was too busy to cure his own disease, assuming that was possible.

Or did he get into that field because of a history of kidney disease? Or did he experiment on himself? The mind fairly reels.
