I'm really p'd that most of my neighbors are trying to outdo CLARK GRISWOLD. Tacky christmas decor isn't what I prefer to see everday.

Do you have those blow up thingys? There is a Nativity and a Bear holding a driedel! Crass crass indeed! Oh, and when people outline their houses and driveways with the huge white lights it looks like a landing strip! Can you tell I am in a mood? :D

Do you ever do non-xmas shapes/decorations?

Dad and I were left unsupervised one year and Mom came home from work to find our artistic interpretation of a sailboat race in holiday lights. (We lowered the flagpole and duct taped lights to it, then put it back up, and used various stakes and ropes to make the shape of a hull, and continued this on a smaller scale on the fence between the front & backyard and a tree).

Our SIL sent us a pic of their next door neighbors decorations. They put the Griswald's to shame. It was bad enough in the pic. We got to see it in person. It's worse. It also plays music!!!! :yikes: They had to go over and ask them if they could unplug it, since it's right beside Cammifunn's bedroom window. He thinks the circus has come to town and right next door. He of course, loves it. He of course is 2! :funn:

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
Driving through Buffalo on the way from Michigan to Massachusetts because it ALWAYS is snowy, icy, or rainy when we drive through Buffalo. One year, for some still unknown reason, the window in the back of our van blew out when driving through Buffalo - something about changing temps? a rock hit it? a BB gun? we'll never know and the rest of the 6 hour trip was very cold. But getting home for the holidays is ALWAYS worth the trip, even though we have to go through Buffalo.

People not being grateful for the Christmas gifts given to their family. At my school, parents call and complain because the "donated" gifts were not enough!:bang: I say.....Go get a job and but them what you want them to have!

Sorry ....it has been a long day!

My mother is the sweetest, quietest, meekest little Southern woman in the world, (I know what you're thinking, and sassy skips a generation,) and one night last December we were in the car and she said to me, "You know those blow up snowmen that people put in the yard?" (I cringed, thinking that she wanted to get one...) "I really would like to go around and shoot them all with a gun..."

I said (and I quote,) " ... ... :funn:!!!" As if my mother would even know how to shoot a gun...!

I had to throw a wreath on the front of the ol' beach buggy. The old girl looks almost festive, instead of like a black tank.
Back when I drove a Jeep, I realized that the spare tire on the back was the size and shape of a Christmas wreath, and was centered squarely (roundly?) on the back door. Two bungee cords, a fake wreath, and a BIG ol' red bow--I thought it looked nice without looking like I drove through the neighbors' yards. My Mini already looks like a little smiling snowman. I just put the top down and play my Harry Connick and Charlie Brown Christmas real loud...
